iOS Development Poll

13 February 2020

I want to thanks everyone for the positive response following the announcement last week. As discussed briefly in conversations with some of you, the focus is on bridging the gap around cross-compilation, more specifically on iOS support. This first step is critical in improving the native support in Gradle. It’s also a significant milestone for mobile development.

To focus on what is truly important, I created the this short, anonymous poll for users and build authors regardless of their current environment. Gathering this information is essential to you and me, so the Gradle plugins released can bring happiness into your build. It’s important to remember that Gradle is highly configurable. A common practice in native is to resolve pain points slowing down your development by using Gradle as an orchestrator. It can be tedious to migrate from another build system to Gradle. However, it could be trivial to wrap another build system inside Gradle to benefit from all of its star features, such as a build cache, a powerful dependency engine or an active community.

For the ones that would love to have a more active voice during the development process, you can leave your contact information at the end of the poll, and I will contact you for a more in-depth interview.

If you have any questions, always feel free to reach out to me via comments on the blog post, sending an email to hello@nokee.dev, or joining the Gradle Community Slack.
